Growing in Faith Together | Pennsylvania Catholic Wedding

“I went to high school with the groom—he’s my brother’s best friend. Claire and Hudson were the first couple I photographed five years before their wedding, and it was an absolute honor to photograph their engagement and wedding in April 2025.

Hudson and Claire are two converts that are fully on fire with the Faith. They intentionally planned their Nuptial Mass and reception: including holy cards in their details, joining the TLM (Traditional Latin Mass) halfway through their wedding planning because they fell in love with the Latin rite, and incorporating as much Catholicism as they could into their day, despite neither of them having many family or friends that would understand it. Yet, they invited all of these people to witness their Catholic nuptials. It was impactful to be a part of—to document something so intimate and beautiful.

In addition to that, Claire and Hudson both exuded joy throughout their day, especially during their reception. They laughed and danced together all night. They were truly at ease with one another, rooted in Christ, and joyfully celebrating their new vocation.

Claire and Hudson wanted a traditional, classy, and glamorous wedding day, and I think they achieved it beautifully.

Claire and Hudson were both at peace as they got ready. Neither one of them seemed rush, and Hudson even took time to pray a rosary with his best man. What made these really sweet was that in the area where Claire and her girls waited, there was a livestream of the church. Claire was able to watch her groom pray for their marriage, and it was really sweet.

Claire and Hudson really wanted to pull out all of the stops during their wedding to honor God. The sanctuary was full of priests and altar servers, praising God through the Latin Mass. It was super important to them that they had a picture with all the priests and altar servers that celebrated/served their wedding nuptials. Switching to the newlywed portraits later that evening, we snuck away during dinner to take some portraits on the roof top. Claire was extremely giddy as we rode the elevator to the roof, and couldn’t stop smiling at her new husband. Hudson was equally happy, but seemed more steady, in a way that grounded her, and allowed her to feel safe to be her most authentic self. He truly allowed her to shine during their portraits.

One of my favorite pictures of that day was Hudson, Claire, and Hudson’s dad. During the reception, as I was photographing the dance floor, I looked over my shoulder and saw the three of them sitting on a radiator at the side of the room. They looked at peace and so happy to watch their favorite people enjoying the night.

They were surrounded by love the entire day, and it was truly inspiring to see how committed their family was to them. My favorite part was Hudson’s dad (Mr. Smith). He was truly so happy just watching them begin their lives together. Hudson and Claire really love cannolis, and Mr. Smith knew that. During their reception he had a special speech planned, dedicated to how much he enjoys them and really wanted to surprise them on their wedding day. He had booked a cannoli bar to come and cater dessert as a surprise. However, when the vendor cancelled very late in the game, he had to improvise; he didn’t allow that curveball to cancel his plans! He threw together a cannoli bar himself for his son and daughter-in-law to share with their guests. They shared a cannoli together with their cake cutting, and the cannolis were available to guests after for dessert.

Over the years we’ve gotten to know each other pretty well—going to the beach, celebrating Fourth of July, experiencing engagement season together. I even watched them go through RCIA together and become confirmed in the Catholic Church prior to their engagement. They’re a couple that I knew so well that photographing their wedding day was even more special.”
