An Intimate Garden Wedding with French Elements at Creighton University and Villa Aletta

Phoebe and Jared met in high school when Phoebe was a senior and Jared was a junior. Jared, being the smart finance/math guy he is, was in a Statistics class with a bunch of seniors. Phoebe remembers him sitting in the front row of the class, while she was in the back because. When he started showing up at her youth group, she recognized him as the smart guy from her stats class, and that’s how they really got to know each other. And of course Jared started tutoring Phoebe in stats and the rest is history!

At the very beginning of their relationship, Jared gifted Phoebe with a ring that was inscribed with the verse: “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” This ring became a very special memento throughout their relationship. As a sweet gesture on their wedding day, Phoebe inscribed Jared’s wedding band with the word “Beloved” as a nod to their beginning and to that first promise finally being fulfilled.

Phoebe is a timeless, classic bride through and through so I was so thrilled to capture that essence on her wedding day.

I met Jared my first day of college at Creighton and we became instant friends! Phoebe was attending a different school but all of our friends learned pretty quickly how important she was to Jared! We got to know Phoebe after many weekend visits to come see Jared and we all knew pretty instantly they were perfect for each other! We had the most beautiful, jam-packed day full of lots of laughter and good friends. The beauty of shooting a wedding for college pals meant that all the guests were also dear friends; so this day was truly so full of joy from photographing mass, to couples portraits all the way through to the reception. It was the first time many of us had seen each other since our 2020 “covid graduation” and really felt like one giant family reunion.

This wedding in three words: Classic, intimate, garden-inspired. Phoebe’s inspiration board included a beautiful combination of vibrant greenery, intricate architecture and French elements all tied together. At first, trying to translate that to Nebraska of all places was a bit nerve-wracking, but we were able to find the most perfect spots for portraits and bridal party photos that fit exactly the vibe she was looking for.

We really enjoyed roaming around Creighton’s stunning campus for first look photos, bridal portraits, bridal party and family photos. We used the backdrop of Creighton Hall and it’s incredible architecture (built in 1877!) for many portraits, which was my favorite spot of the day. After mass, we moved across the street to Central Highschool and worked with the whole bridal party. Everyone was all smiles despite the heat, and we couldn’t stop laughing as Phoebe’s veil continued to fly off her head over and over.

Jared and Phoebe’s youth group leader from high school was in attendance at the wedding and gave the prayer before dinner as a meaningful nod to their beginning!
