Congratulations, you beautiful fiancé! I’m Matthew.

I started Imago Dei Film because 1. I learn from and love so much the couples I get to film! and 2. I saw something missing in Catholic wedding videos. Wedding days are moments in heaven, so it’s easy to see basically any wedding video and get the butterflies (you know what I mean?). But you’re not watching your wedding film to make you get excited about getting married again, right? Instead, I believe your wedding film should dispose not your emotions but your soul toward the free, total, faithful, and fruitful love that brought you two to the altar in the first place.

The difference is this:

You watch your wedding film and respond, “Aww, what a fun day that was.”
You watch your wedding film and become drawn into your spouse’s pure goodness again.

Do those appear similar? They do not to me.

I don’t want couples to remember their wedding day like it’s trapped in the past – I want them to be brought into the reality of its grace again when they watch it.

What is the grace I’m trying to capture? The grace of the occasion of Holy Matrimony to me is firstly being fully united, not just in body, but in mind and heart with your lover. Secondly it is taking on the heart of God the Father toward your spouse in giving everything for them for no other reason than because they are worth dying for over and over again just as they are.

How do I capture this grace in my wedding films?
“They conquered him [the devil] by the…word of their testimony” (Rev 12:11). I believe that your story — meaning how you met, your ups and downs through dating, engagement and all the rest — has the greatest power in breaking the lies and restoring the truth of God’s plan for your marriage. How Jesus worked all throughout your relationship is the reason you are getting married — and hearing it again is how to receive it even more deeply.

I’m excited at the opportunity to show you through my work how Jesus has been and is working in your relationship (because He works all things for good), and to help you remember how good you and your spouse are. Let’s do this!
